Dear Uncle Sam,

I’ve been told, and I’m inclined to believe it, that the island of Cebu is the most desirable destination in all the Philippines. It certainly is an unlikely but pleasant home for Bigfoot Entertainment, Fashion TV, and the International Academy of Film and Television. It’s here, in those three organization’s joint headquarters, that I’ve been most comfortably put up, while working on scores and soundtrack songs for various Bigfoot movies and TV shows.

Think of it! Benjamin Patton, a high school dropout, and once a member of a teenage punk band called “Urethra Franklin and the Fallopian Dudes”, working in a swanky film studio, on a balmy island in the Pacific! Too weird. I look forward to sharing outlandish tales of this perplexing paradise called Cebu, but first, the music.

Ben Patton was born and raised in northern Vermont, the son of two musicians, Deb and Will Patton. In his teens he wrote and recorded ten home-made albums, and sold them at his performances around New England, while also touring occasionally with acclaimed Vermont-based youth chorus Village Harmony. At nineteen he relocated to Boston, Massachusetts, where he recorded his milestone “debut” release “Here’s the Good News Album”.

In 2004, Ben formed a duo with his friend, German songwriter Jaye Muller, who’s award-winning album “We Are the Majority”, released under the moniker “J”, had sparked controversy around Europe. In London, they collaborated on an album called, simply, “Muller and Patton”, which was met with critical acclaim and a cult following.

In 2005 Ben relocated to Berlin, Germany, and toured in both Europe and Asia. With Jaye Muller and a six piece backup band, he taped “Muller and Patton: 50505 LIVE”, a concert DVD.

The following year he moved back to the states, to New York City, where he recorded his second solo album “Because the Heart”, and gave frequent, impassioned solo performances at Big Apple clubs.

Flying back to London to work at legendary Abbey Road Studios, Ben Patton and Jaye Muller reprised their successful collaboration on an ambitious theme-album entitled “Jonathan and Bailey”, of which John Leckie (producer, John Lennon, Radiohead, Muse) said ““Rarely is something this sophisticated also this much fun”. The album would be one of the final Abbey Road projects of now retired engineer Nick Webb, who’s work for the studio includes the latter half of the Beatle’s discography and much of their respective solo work. Jonathan and Bailey will be released this fall. This year, Ben Patton has branched out for the first time into film scoring. He is currently in Cebu, Philippines, composing music for Bigfoot Films. He’s also readying the release of his third official solo album, “The UnQuiet and Apart”.
